Kevin McClam, a 14-year-old boy, went missing on March 30, 1997, from the Naval Weapons Station military base near Goose Creek, South Carolina. His mother, Tracey, noticed his absence on Easter Sunday when he didn't show up for a meal. Base security initially dismissed Kevin as a runaway, despite no evidence to support this theory. Two days after his disappearance, Kevin's clothes were found spray-painted along a dirt road near a construction site. A year later, a search involving 140 individuals, including divers and sniffer dogs, was conducted, but no trace of Kevin was found. In May 2005, a credible tip led the case to be reclassified as a homicide investigation. The NCIS felt confident that there was going to be an arrest within the month but to date no one has been held responsible and we still don’t know what happened to Kevin.

If you know anything about the disappearance of Kevin McClam in March of 1997 please call the Goose Creek police at 803-572-4300 or you can contact the NCIS on their website here: https://www.ncis.navy.mil/resources/ncis-tips/

I'm excited to get into it this week.

13
00:00:47,840 --> 00:00:49,880
Episode 73?

14
00:00:49,880 --> 00:00:50,880
72.

15
00:00:50,880 --> 00:00:51,880
72.

16
00:00:51,880 --> 00:00:52,880
Alright.

17
00:00:52,880 --> 00:00:53,880
Great.

18
00:00:53,880 --> 00:00:54,880
Let's do it.

19
00:00:54,880 --> 00:00:59,600
So today we have a missing person case and just as a bit of a content warning at the

20
00:00:59,600 --> 00:01:03,600
top, this case does involve a young person.

21
00:01:03,600 --> 00:01:08,400
Today we are talking about the missing person case of Kevin McClam.

22
00:01:08,400 --> 00:01:14,440
And this takes place in March of 1997 in Goose Creek, South Carolina.

23
00:01:14,440 --> 00:01:16,560
But first, a little bit about Kevin.

24
00:01:16,560 --> 00:01:19,640
Kevin is 14 years old in 1997.

25
00:01:19,640 --> 00:01:25,920
He was born April 2nd, 1982, and Kevin and his family lived on the Naval Weapons Station

26
00:01:25,920 --> 00:01:28,760
right outside of Goose Creek, South Carolina.

27
00:01:28,760 --> 00:01:34,540
So it sits kind of in Goose Creek, but it also seems like it's its own entity outside

28
00:01:34,540 --> 00:01:36,280
of Goose Creek as well.

29
00:01:36,280 --> 00:01:40,400
Kevin's family moved onto the base around 1994 from Georgia.

30
00:01:40,400 --> 00:01:44,800
Kevin's dad is a recruiter, and the family took advantage of living in the cheaper military

31
00:01:44,800 --> 00:01:47,640
housing to help stretch the family budget.

32
00:01:47,640 --> 00:01:53,360
They lived in a five-bedroom duplex, but as soon as Tracy, Kevin's mom, moved in, she

33
00:01:53,360 --> 00:01:55,900
started to second-guess their choice.

34
00:01:55,900 --> 00:02:00,400
The military base gave her a bad feeling, and it wasn't exactly the most child-friendly

35
00:02:00,400 --> 00:02:02,720
place for her four children.

36
00:02:02,720 --> 00:02:06,400
Kevin adjusted well to his new school and surroundings, however.

37
00:02:06,400 --> 00:02:10,440
His teachers didn't have a bad thing to say about him, and Kevin was well-liked and played

38
00:02:10,440 --> 00:02:13,260
basketball at Marrington Middle School.

39
00:02:13,260 --> 00:02:17,400
Kevin was strong in his convictions and wasn't one to give into peer pressure.

40
00:02:17,400 --> 00:02:21,400
Kevin was athletic and had a good heart, according to his family.

41
00:02:21,400 --> 00:02:24,060
And now a timeline of events.

42
00:02:24,060 --> 00:02:30,280
On Saturday, March 29, 1997, Tracey, that's Kevin's mom, went out to play bingo that

43
00:02:30,280 --> 00:02:31,280
night.

44
00:02:31,280 --> 00:02:35,760
On the way home, she stopped at Kmart to pick up some more candy for the Easter baskets

45
00:02:35,760 --> 00:02:38,160
since the next day was Easter.

46
00:02:38,160 --> 00:02:41,980
Tracy gets home later, but Kevin and his younger sister are still up.

47
00:02:41,980 --> 00:02:46,360
They had been playing Super Mario Bros. in the den of the family duplex.

48
00:02:46,360 --> 00:02:51,440
The siblings and their mom talk for about an hour when Tracy and her daughter decide

49
00:02:51,440 --> 00:02:52,440
to go to bed.

50
00:02:52,440 --> 00:02:57,160
Kevin told his mom, quote, I'm going to stay up for a while and play Nintendo, end

51
00:02:57,160 --> 00:02:58,160
quote.

52
00:02:58,160 --> 00:03:01,360
This is around 1 a.m. on Sunday, March 30.

53
00:03:01,360 --> 00:03:06,080
So that Easter morning, when Tracy gets up to set the Easter baskets, she notices that

54
00:03:06,080 --> 00:03:07,440
Kevin is gone.

55
00:03:07,440 --> 00:03:11,820
Tracy prepares an Easter meal, and when Kevin doesn't show up to eat, she knows something

56
00:03:11,820 --> 00:03:13,160
is wrong.

57
00:03:13,160 --> 00:03:15,760
Kevin has never missed a meal in his life.

58
00:03:15,760 --> 00:03:17,740
Tracy begins searching for her son.

59
00:03:17,740 --> 00:03:20,720
She spends hours looking around the military base.

60
00:03:20,720 --> 00:03:24,920
There were no signs of struggle in the home or any signs of forced entry.

61
00:03:24,920 --> 00:03:28,800
After being unable to find her son, Tracy called the base commander for help.

62
00:03:28,800 --> 00:03:32,800
According to Tracy, the base commander was immediately mad that she would call him at

63
00:03:32,800 --> 00:03:33,920
his home.

64
00:03:33,920 --> 00:03:38,280
When that call ended, Tracy then phoned the chaplain, who said that he would get the black

65
00:03:38,280 --> 00:03:42,840
chaplain to the family who would, quote, understand her better, end quote.

66
00:03:42,840 --> 00:03:47,600
That same day, in the late afternoon to the early evening, a father and son were taking

67
00:03:47,600 --> 00:03:52,700
an Easter bike ride when they saw someone matching Kevin's description, walking along

68
00:03:52,700 --> 00:03:55,400
the road in boxers and tennis shoes.

69
00:03:55,400 --> 00:03:59,360
They said that he didn't seem panicked or under any stress.

70
00:03:59,360 --> 00:04:05,640
On Monday, March 31, 1997, so this is the next day, base security waited a full day

71
00:04:05,640 --> 00:04:08,080
before beginning to search for Kevin.

72
00:04:08,080 --> 00:04:12,560
They write Kevin off as a runaway, even though he had no history of that, and there was nothing

73
00:04:12,560 --> 00:04:16,480
in the days leading up to his disappearance that would suggest he wanted to run away.

74
00:04:16,480 --> 00:04:21,320
It is believed that when Kevin went missing, he was wearing an Orlando Magic T-shirt or

75
00:04:21,320 --> 00:04:26,840
jersey, both have been reported, a striped long sleeve shirt, and white pants.

76
00:04:26,840 --> 00:04:31,400
There was nothing else missing from his bedroom, which is another reason the family did not

77
00:04:31,400 --> 00:04:33,280
believe he ran away.

78
00:04:33,280 --> 00:04:40,840
On April 1, so this is two days after Kevin's disappearance, and a day before his 15th birthday,

79
00:04:40,840 --> 00:04:42,520
his clothes are found.

80
00:04:42,520 --> 00:04:48,640
His shirt, jersey, or the T-shirt were found along a dirt road near a construction site,

81
00:04:48,640 --> 00:04:50,440
not far from his home.

82
00:04:50,440 --> 00:04:53,600
I believe his pants were also found here as well.

83
00:04:53,600 --> 00:04:58,240
The clothes were found separated by five to 10 feet from each piece of clothing.

84
00:04:58,240 --> 00:05:01,760
His shoes and underwear were not amongst the clothing that was found.

85
00:05:01,760 --> 00:05:03,560
All of the clothes were spray painted.

86
00:05:03,560 --> 00:05:07,520
The clothes were not torn or in disarray outside of the spray paint.

87
00:05:07,520 --> 00:05:12,760
The clothes were also found in the same area where the witnesses, that father and son duo,

88
00:05:12,760 --> 00:05:16,760
will remember seeing a person walking in his boxers and shoes.

89
00:05:16,760 --> 00:05:23,440
And then from this time, it's not exactly clear what investigators do to find Kevin.

90
00:05:23,440 --> 00:05:26,920
It really is not covered in the media at all.

91
00:05:26,920 --> 00:05:32,600
The next big update we get is March 1998, so this is approaching the one year mark of

92
00:05:32,600 --> 00:05:34,540
Kevin's disappearance.

93
00:05:34,540 --> 00:05:39,840
And security officers on the base conduct a two day search through a woody and swampy

94
00:05:39,840 --> 00:05:42,880
area of the 1700 acre base.

95
00:05:42,880 --> 00:05:48,120
There are around 140 searchers, and that includes divers and sniffer dogs, but no trace of Kevin

96
00:05:48,120 --> 00:05:49,120
is found.

97
00:05:49,120 --> 00:05:53,360
Officials in the case say they are no closer to solving the case a year later than they

98
00:05:53,360 --> 00:05:56,080
were the day Kevin was reported missing.

99
00:05:56,080 --> 00:06:00,640
Rumors circulate that the case was not given the seriousness that it should have because

100
00:06:00,640 --> 00:06:02,240
the McClams are black.

101
00:06:02,240 --> 00:06:07,600
Tracy says quote, I never wanted to say that or think that, but I know it's a fact now.

102
00:06:07,600 --> 00:06:08,600
End quote.

103
00:06:08,600 --> 00:06:11,740
Tracy has become desperate in the search for her son.

104
00:06:11,740 --> 00:06:15,500
She spends hours every day since his disappearance looking for him.

105
00:06:15,500 --> 00:06:20,240
She even reached out to local psychics for help despite never believing in them before.

106
00:06:20,240 --> 00:06:24,920
Tracy racks her brain, but there were no signs that anything was wrong in Kevin's life.

107
00:06:24,920 --> 00:06:29,360
The only theory she can even guess at is that Kevin snuck out of the house and met up with

108
00:06:29,360 --> 00:06:31,920
friends when something horrible happened.

109
00:06:31,920 --> 00:06:36,600
Tracy talked to all of Kevin's friends, but they all denied seeing him that Easter Sunday.

110
00:06:36,600 --> 00:06:41,920
Tracy hopes that someone will come forward and say what they know about her son's disappearance.

111
00:06:41,920 --> 00:06:47,080
And then again, the case goes cold until May of 2005.

112
00:06:47,080 --> 00:06:51,000
So at this point, it's been eight years since Kevin's disappearance.

113
00:06:51,000 --> 00:06:54,180
A local news station does a special report on Kevin.

114
00:06:54,180 --> 00:06:59,840
As a result of the case getting more attention, a very credible tip comes into the NCIS.

115
00:06:59,840 --> 00:07:04,800
NCIS stands for Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

116
00:07:04,800 --> 00:07:11,240
Once that tip comes in, the case changes from a missing person case to a homicide investigation.

117
00:07:11,240 --> 00:07:16,800
That following January of 2006, the NCIS hold a press conference at the basketball court

118
00:07:16,800 --> 00:07:21,480
where Kevin would often play basketball and one of the last places that Kevin was seen.

119
00:07:21,480 --> 00:07:26,320
NCIS special agent Stan Garland says, quote, we know someone is lying.

120
00:07:26,320 --> 00:07:30,120
Kevin knows more than what they're saying about Kevin's disappearance, end quote.

121
00:07:30,120 --> 00:07:35,040
The NCIS also say that they have new forensic evidence that shows that Kevin may have known

122
00:07:35,040 --> 00:07:36,040
his killer.

123
00:07:36,040 --> 00:07:41,200
The NCIS say that they are interviewing people of interest at that time.

124
00:07:41,200 --> 00:07:47,240
In October of 2006, so it has been over nine years at this point, police bring cadaver

125
00:07:47,240 --> 00:07:51,620
dogs to search a 3000 square foot area on the Naval base.

126
00:07:51,620 --> 00:07:57,080
The special agent with the NCIS, John Nix Jr. said, quote, we turned up several items

127
00:07:57,080 --> 00:07:58,080
of interest.

128
00:07:58,080 --> 00:08:02,720
Further investigation will determine if they are relevant or not, end quote.

129
00:08:02,720 --> 00:08:05,200
Searchers didn't unearth any human remains.

130
00:08:05,200 --> 00:08:10,360
That part they do make clear, but they did bring in a backhoe to excavate an area across

131
00:08:10,360 --> 00:08:13,920
the street from the basketball court that Kevin used to play at.

132
00:08:13,920 --> 00:08:19,080
Base security are hopeful that there are still some people in the area that would have information.

133
00:08:19,080 --> 00:08:22,360
Nix said, quote, he still has friends here.

134
00:08:22,360 --> 00:08:25,280
The people that we're looking at, they still have friends here.

135
00:08:25,280 --> 00:08:27,400
We will get them eventually, end quote.

136
00:08:27,400 --> 00:08:33,640
A few months later, in December of 2006, police do name two suspects in Kevin's disappearance

137
00:08:33,640 --> 00:08:36,160
and what they believe is subsequent murder.

138
00:08:36,160 --> 00:08:41,440
The first person they name is Thomas McCardell, who was serving time in 2006 for a robbery

139
00:08:41,440 --> 00:08:42,440
charge.

140
00:08:42,440 --> 00:08:46,480
It's reported that while in their teenage years, McCardell and another man named Michael

141
00:08:46,480 --> 00:08:51,480
Moorcroft bragged about how they participated in the murder of Kevin.

142
00:08:51,480 --> 00:08:56,680
Later, Moorcroft will recant his statement and say that he was making the story up.

143
00:08:56,680 --> 00:08:59,680
Police say that there are three suspects altogether.

144
00:08:59,680 --> 00:09:02,480
The third person is never named by police.

145
00:09:02,480 --> 00:09:08,840
But police do say in December of 2006 to expect an arrest to be made in the next month following

146
00:09:08,840 --> 00:09:11,160
the announcement of these suspects.

147
00:09:11,160 --> 00:09:15,520
Police searched Moorcroft's childhood home with cadaver dogs and the dog does hit on

148
00:09:15,520 --> 00:09:17,840
an area under the shed.

149
00:09:17,840 --> 00:09:21,500
Police dig up the area, but they don't find anything of significance.

150
00:09:21,500 --> 00:09:26,320
To that, Moorcroft said that of course they wouldn't because he never did anything.

151
00:09:26,320 --> 00:09:30,360
But that is truly the last update that I could find on Kevin McClamm.

152
00:09:30,360 --> 00:09:34,320
So it kind of ends with the police being very confident that they were going to have an

153
00:09:34,320 --> 00:09:37,520
arrest, but those arrests never come.

154
00:09:37,520 --> 00:09:44,200
But if you know anything about the disappearance of Kevin McClamm in March of 1997, please

155
00:09:44,200 --> 00:09:54,800
call the Goose Creek Police at 803-572-4300 or you could report a tip to the NCIS online.

156
00:09:54,800 --> 00:09:59,760
And the sources for the timeline today come from the Atlanta Journal, the Times and Democrat,

157
00:09:59,760 --> 00:10:04,760
Post Curia, WIS 10, the Doe Network, and the Charlie Project.

158
00:10:04,760 --> 00:10:07,480
So that is the case of Kevin McClamm.

159
00:10:07,480 --> 00:10:14,640
I feel like usually when I'm listening to you tell me about a case for the first time,

160
00:10:14,640 --> 00:10:20,520
it's a bit of a slow wash over of information.

161
00:10:20,520 --> 00:10:26,680
And my usual immediate emotional response is just like tremendous sadness.

162
00:10:26,680 --> 00:10:31,880
And I do feel that in this case, but I was kind of pacing around listening.

163
00:10:31,880 --> 00:10:41,120
I'm so I'm just like furious, furious that that I didn't know that it was mishandled

164
00:10:41,120 --> 00:10:44,520
for numerous reasons.

165
00:10:44,520 --> 00:10:47,000
One of them being racism.

166
00:10:47,000 --> 00:10:48,720
I just want to ask you more questions.

167
00:10:48,720 --> 00:10:50,720
Is that right?

168
00:10:50,720 --> 00:11:00,120
Can we circle back to the like sighting of him in his underpants and shoes and like that's

169
00:11:00,120 --> 00:11:01,120
it?

170
00:11:01,120 --> 00:11:07,800
My first reaction was if that's a child walking around, I think I would be like, Hey, buddy,

171
00:11:07,800 --> 00:11:08,800
what are you doing?

172
00:11:08,800 --> 00:11:16,080
So between 2pm and 7pm on Easter Sunday in 1997, there's a father and son who are out

173
00:11:16,080 --> 00:11:24,640
riding a bike and they see someone who matches the description of Kevin walking in his boxer

174
00:11:24,640 --> 00:11:26,680
shorts and tennis shoes.

175
00:11:26,680 --> 00:11:28,560
But that's it.

176
00:11:28,560 --> 00:11:35,840
And I did read in a couple spots that there may have been other people who also saw him.

177
00:11:35,840 --> 00:11:40,260
But this father and son, it seems like they were maybe the closest to him.

178
00:11:40,260 --> 00:11:45,360
So it's never confirmed if that is Kevin or not.

179
00:11:45,360 --> 00:11:50,080
But it is close to where his clothes are found two days later.

180
00:11:50,080 --> 00:11:56,600
So they found everything except his boxers and shoes, which led people to think that

181
00:11:56,600 --> 00:12:00,560
this could have been him since that's all that he was wearing.

182
00:12:00,560 --> 00:12:06,280
I guess I question the adults who like saw that child and maybe knew who he was and like

183
00:12:06,280 --> 00:12:14,940
didn't say anything that feels I guess I don't like to point blame, but I'm just I don't

184
00:12:14,940 --> 00:12:17,120
understand what happened there.

185
00:12:17,120 --> 00:12:22,880
Yeah, when I was researching this case, I had a couple of theories.

186
00:12:22,880 --> 00:12:27,480
The first one is that maybe they just didn't know him.

187
00:12:27,480 --> 00:12:30,600
You know, Goose Creek is a bigger town.

188
00:12:30,600 --> 00:12:33,600
It is made up of this military base for sure.

189
00:12:33,600 --> 00:12:37,300
But you know, there are a lot of people in the military base, people coming and going

190
00:12:37,300 --> 00:12:39,020
kind of constantly.

191
00:12:39,020 --> 00:12:42,760
So I did consider that that maybe they did.

192
00:12:42,760 --> 00:12:45,260
They just didn't know him at all.

193
00:12:45,260 --> 00:12:50,680
And then I also had to think about the adultification of black children.

194
00:12:50,680 --> 00:12:55,000
And so, you know, he's a 14 year old teenage boy.

195
00:12:55,000 --> 00:13:00,580
And to some people, they would adultify him in their mind instantly.

196
00:13:00,580 --> 00:13:04,240
So they wouldn't see a child in his underwear walking down the street, they would see a

197
00:13:04,240 --> 00:13:07,060
man in his underwear walking down the street.

198
00:13:07,060 --> 00:13:13,160
So I think that could have also played a part in this as well.

199
00:13:13,160 --> 00:13:17,300
So I think between those two, somewhere lies the truth.

200
00:13:17,300 --> 00:13:20,280
And it might be a little bit of both, honestly.

201
00:13:20,280 --> 00:13:26,520
I guess I'd like to get into more of the suspects with the confessions.

202
00:13:26,520 --> 00:13:29,880
I'm sorry, I just heard it fresh.

203
00:13:29,880 --> 00:13:32,600
So just like a little recap.

204
00:13:32,600 --> 00:13:40,640
Yeah, so it seems that Michael Moorcroft had been heard kind of bragging about participating

205
00:13:40,640 --> 00:13:49,240
in the murder of Kevin, that he didn't disappear, he was murdered and implicated in this confession,

206
00:13:49,240 --> 00:13:55,360
I believe kind of everything that I read is Thomas McArdle as well.

207
00:13:55,360 --> 00:14:00,300
And there's also a third person that police say is a suspect, but is never named.

208
00:14:00,300 --> 00:14:03,960
So I don't know if he comes from this confession directly or not.

209
00:14:03,960 --> 00:14:11,400
But Moorcroft appears to have said some things that people later turned into the NCIS.

210
00:14:11,400 --> 00:14:15,740
And that is what kind of brought the spotlight over these two people.

211
00:14:15,740 --> 00:14:21,280
But it does seem like the NCIS was investigating them and talking to them for a while.

212
00:14:21,280 --> 00:14:25,080
They also bring in cadaver dogs to Moorcroft's childhood home.

213
00:14:25,080 --> 00:14:28,500
I believe his mother was still actually living there at the time.

214
00:14:28,500 --> 00:14:30,080
And there is a hit under the shed.

215
00:14:30,080 --> 00:14:34,420
But when they dig it up, nothing is found, nothing of any significance.

216
00:14:34,420 --> 00:14:38,920
And Moorcroft kind of points to this as saying that like, of course they didn't find anything

217
00:14:38,920 --> 00:14:40,000
because I didn't do it.

218
00:14:40,000 --> 00:14:41,000
I made it up.

219
00:14:41,000 --> 00:14:42,500
It was just a story.

220
00:14:42,500 --> 00:14:44,040
That's where that kind of stands.

221
00:14:44,040 --> 00:14:49,600
But the two of them have been named as suspects by police, by the NCIS, but they've never

222
00:14:49,600 --> 00:14:55,360
been arrested for any crime related to Kevin McClam.

223
00:14:55,360 --> 00:15:02,920
A case can become a homicide investigation even if there is no body.

224
00:15:02,920 --> 00:15:04,560
Is that correct?

225
00:15:04,560 --> 00:15:05,560
Yeah.

226
00:15:05,560 --> 00:15:09,720
So it just kind of shifts how they investigate it.

227
00:15:09,720 --> 00:15:14,840
So we've seen this in other cases that we've covered where the person has been missing.

228
00:15:14,840 --> 00:15:22,080
But because of X, Y, or Z, they shift their investigation tactics to more of a homicide

229
00:15:22,080 --> 00:15:23,080
investigation.

230
00:15:23,080 --> 00:15:27,280
And that's how they look at it until proven otherwise.

231
00:15:27,280 --> 00:15:33,520
And it does seem a question that I had is the NCIS later, they talk about that they

232
00:15:33,520 --> 00:15:41,000
have forensic evidence saying that Kevin could have known his killer.

233
00:15:41,000 --> 00:15:46,400
And I just couldn't exactly find what that forensic evidence is.

234
00:15:46,400 --> 00:15:49,400
It doesn't appear like they got into details at that press conference.

235
00:15:49,400 --> 00:15:52,660
They just said they have forensic evidence.

236
00:15:52,660 --> 00:15:58,920
So I don't know if that also is how they got to their suspects that they eventually made,

237
00:15:58,920 --> 00:16:03,480
if that also plays a hand in this, as well as the confessions.

238
00:16:03,480 --> 00:16:08,920
But I would be very curious to know what that evidence is and where they got it from.

239
00:16:08,920 --> 00:16:14,280
I can only suspect that it's his clothing, since that's all we know that has been found

240
00:16:14,280 --> 00:16:15,280
of his.

241
00:16:15,280 --> 00:16:19,120
But that is something that I kept kind of returning to and rereading it, because I wasn't

242
00:16:19,120 --> 00:16:21,840
sure that I was reading it right.

243
00:16:21,840 --> 00:16:27,740
But they say it was forensic evidence that shows that Kevin may have known his killer.

244
00:16:27,740 --> 00:16:31,000
So I just don't know what that is, frankly.

245
00:16:31,000 --> 00:16:37,200
Yeah, it's an ambiguous statement, because we all know a lot of people, you know, it

246
00:16:37,200 --> 00:16:45,960
just doesn't say anything, which again is frustrating, which makes me think about Tracy,

247
00:16:45,960 --> 00:16:54,600
his mother, to have the realization like midway through the investigation of this system is

248
00:16:54,600 --> 00:17:03,560
killing me and like the case shifted from missing to homicide and to know like, I am

249
00:17:03,560 --> 00:17:10,200
being failed by this system because of x, y, and z racism being the main component and

250
00:17:10,200 --> 00:17:13,960
that I just, I'm just so sorry.

251
00:17:13,960 --> 00:17:18,960
And you know, as things were kind of heating up in this investigation, you know, 2005,

252
00:17:18,960 --> 00:17:24,280
2006, reporters did reach out to Tracy, her and her family had moved back to Georgia at

253
00:17:24,280 --> 00:17:25,680
that point.

254
00:17:25,680 --> 00:17:32,480
But she said something along the lines of all they can do now is keep faith and keep

255
00:17:32,480 --> 00:17:34,720
their faith, which they've had this whole time.

256
00:17:34,720 --> 00:17:37,560
And they also mentioned that they did have faith in the investigators.

257
00:17:37,560 --> 00:17:46,160
So it's like they still are wanting to believe that they're going to get help, which is sad.

258
00:17:46,160 --> 00:17:51,040
But what an incredible woman to still give people the benefit of the doubt and these

259
00:17:51,040 --> 00:17:55,960
new investigators on the case, giving them the benefit of the doubt that they would be

260
00:17:55,960 --> 00:17:58,200
helpful and they would close this case.

261
00:17:58,200 --> 00:18:02,520
And it really seems like for a minute that they were very confident it was going to be

262
00:18:02,520 --> 00:18:03,520
closed.

263
00:18:03,520 --> 00:18:07,120
They had like a special cold case unit that said that they weren't going to leave Goose

264
00:18:07,120 --> 00:18:10,080
Creek until the case was closed.

265
00:18:10,080 --> 00:18:14,820
But here we are in the year 2024 and the case is still not closed.

266
00:18:14,820 --> 00:18:18,620
So I want to believe that they are very close.

267
00:18:18,620 --> 00:18:23,480
They are just missing a few pieces of information, which it does sound like they believe is out

268
00:18:23,480 --> 00:18:24,480
there.

269
00:18:24,480 --> 00:18:29,160
If somebody knows more than what they're saying, somebody has been hiding something, somebody

270
00:18:29,160 --> 00:18:34,900
who either knows Kevin or knows the person that did it is keeping back information.

271
00:18:34,900 --> 00:18:38,280
So it does seem like it's out there somewhere.

272
00:18:38,280 --> 00:18:45,840
Well, I think that you bringing it to us will, you know, it's definitely a nudge forward

273
00:18:45,840 --> 00:18:48,920
and just getting his name out there.

274
00:18:48,920 --> 00:18:55,400
Again, if you know anything about the disappearance of Kevin McClamm in March of 1997, please

275
00:18:55,400 --> 00:19:03,960
call the Goose Creek Police at 803-572-4300 or you can go online and submit a tip to the

276
00:19:03,960 --> 00:19:05,720
NCIS that way.

277
00:19:05,720 --> 00:19:08,920
And they even have an app you can download to submit tips.

278
00:19:08,920 --> 00:19:14,400
It's just NCIS tips and you can send a tip that way.

279
00:19:14,400 --> 00:19:24,200
While we have you here still, hopefully, please, please, please, if you have a moment, rate

280
00:19:24,200 --> 00:19:28,360
and review us in Apple podcasts.

281
00:19:28,360 --> 00:19:30,720
We love seeing those reviews.

282
00:19:30,720 --> 00:19:38,160
And more importantly, we really we encourage the reviews because it helps get the podcasts

283
00:19:38,160 --> 00:19:44,360
out there, which helps get the names out there and cases out there just like Kevin's.

284
00:19:44,360 --> 00:19:46,120
So thank you.

285
00:19:46,120 --> 00:19:49,440
We'll also be posting pictures on our Instagram of Kevin.

286
00:19:49,440 --> 00:19:52,560
There is an age progress picture of him to the age of 33.

287
00:19:52,560 --> 00:19:55,180
So we'll be putting that up on our Instagram as well.

288
00:19:55,180 --> 00:19:58,960
So if you're not following us, that's a great way to keep up with the podcast, with the

289
00:19:58,960 --> 00:20:02,840
cases, and then just other things that we share in our stories that is kind of true

290
00:20:02,840 --> 00:20:05,480
crime, cold case related.

291
00:20:05,480 --> 00:20:07,740
So all that information is on Instagram.

292
00:20:07,740 --> 00:20:11,000
You can just search at cold and missing and we'll pop right up.

293
00:20:11,000 --> 00:20:16,080
You can also visit our website cold and missing.com where you can leave a review, you can listen

294
00:20:16,080 --> 00:20:17,560
to all our old episodes.

295
00:20:17,560 --> 00:20:19,800
And there are also transcripts on the website.

296
00:20:19,800 --> 00:20:25,340
So if you or someone you love is hard of hearing, you can follow along to the podcast that way.

297
00:20:25,340 --> 00:20:27,340
But that is all I have.

298
00:20:27,340 --> 00:20:29,960
Thank you again so much for listening to cold and missing.

299
00:20:29,960 --> 00:20:31,560
I'm your host, Ali.

300
00:20:31,560 --> 00:20:33,380
And I am your co host, Eli.

301
00:20:33,380 --> 00:20:35,280
Have a good week and stay safe, y'all.

302
00:20:35,280 --> 00:20:38,840
Stay safe, y'all.
